Old Business:

a)Grant Money-All our grant money for 2019, 2020, & 2021 Needs to be spent by September 30, 2021. It is going to be a busy summer.

b)Montreal Meadows-On last years grant request, we asked for $150,000.00 to engineer and repair that section of trail. Engineering alone is $58,000.00. We will have to revise our Grant request to ask for more money in order to get started on that project.

New Business:

a)Maps-We are unable to print new two year maps. We are working on a solution to have some maps for this season.

b)Maintenance-As you are doing your trail maintenance, be on the look out for problem areas. We plan our budget a year in advance so we need to know if there is something we need to plan on fixing in the future.

c)Projects-We will need to install a gate on the Lac La Belle Trail at Bete Gris Rd. We will also need to do some work on the Eagle River trail wash outs and grading and the land owner wants it blocked off with rocks or a gate. Additional work needs to be done on the section of trail between Seneca Lake and the Main trial B in Mohawk. The Eagle Harbor Trail has a big water Problem, we will need to add a couple of culverts. The DNR is going to be fixing Trail B from M 203 to Sweedtown. Build it up and grade it. They will also be working on a Culvert by the Condos on Trail BD and some other Maintenance on the on that trail by Gas Plant Rd. The State has also paid for work on the Trail from Schlaters Lake to Clark Mine with money from our grants.

d)Other Notes-*Because of previous issues with logging trucks and riders being on the same trail, The Land Company may have to close the Mandan trail again this year. *Our land use agreement with TRG says there should be visible law enforcement on the trail. The DNR was not out there last season due to Covid restrictions. Mike has informed both Houghton and Keweenaw County Sheriff Depts. to apply for grant money that is available for that purpose. *The previous Michigan Governor had indicated that Michigan is a “Trail State”. Some how we need to convince our Government that our trails are very important to our economy growth and that we need more money for our trails from the funding that was set up for that. *The land company will be looking to be selling off parts of there land/our trails that have been logged. If the land is sold in small parcels to different individuals, we could lose our trail system. *KORC is looking to do some development at High Rock Bay, the DNR will put in toilets and Garbage collection containers.
